Mata Ngaro (from the Chieftan Collection)

$260.00

Unearthed from a cliffside shrine on Hiva Oa, this relic bears the signs of ceremonial preservation—the skull face polished pale as pearl, while the crown is dark and stained with oil and age.

A single boar’s tusk bound into the hair marked it as a mata ngaro—a sentinel spirit tasked with watching the sea for omens.

Personal note: Local elders warned me not to meet its gaze after sundown. I laughed, then spent three sleepless nights facing it, certain it had moved.

.

A Shaman’s Lantern is pendant-style lighting meets life-size glowing skull—the combo adds up to be the most unique lamp in any room.
