Make Room for the Macabre
It's that time again—spring. Spring cleaning. When everyone’s talking about minimalism and neutrals and Marie Kondo. But you? Me? Us? Oh … we’re just a little different, aren’t we.
I’ve been in my share of tiki bars. I’ve had glimpses into the private shrines of escapism you all have created in your homes. Dark rooms lit with sultry red. Shelves of mugs and bottles and oddities. An ode to the decadent, the vintage. Unapologetically over the top.
I love this for us.
So no, we’re not folding our personalities into beige boxes and pretending clutter is a crime. We’re curating chaos. We’re elevating the eclectic. And we’re making damn sure our spaces reflect the weird little corners of our souls, even if they are a little dusty (the corners I mean — the cleanliness of your soul is a you problem).
This spring, don’t get bullied by the clean freaks. Don’t ask yourself what sparks joy. Ask what sparks intrigue. What makes your guests tilt their heads and say, "Wait... where did you get that?"
I mean, the way I see it, spring cleaning is the perfect excuse to clear out some of the boring basics and make space for bold, strange, and beautifully unsettling things. Like a hyper-realistic 3D printed skull lamp that softly glows like a séance. Just a thought.
